I’m a fourth-generation Alaskan, a changemaker, and a fierce advocate for kids and families. I’m also the proud mom of four grown kids, grandma to four wild and wonderful grandbabies, and the lucky partner to Kris. 

Over the years, my work has earned me some pretty cool recognition: the Champion for Children Award from Alaska Children’s Trust, a Top 40 Under 40 nod, and a spot in the Athena Society. I earned my Doctorate in Law and Policy from Northeastern University, plus my BA and MBA from Alaska Pacific University, where I now get to teach as an adjunct business professor. I’m also a published researcher, turning data and ideas into action that actually moves the needle. Oh, and I wrote a book—Go Ahead Girl, a 

no-nonsense guide to help women stop waiting around and start creating the life they want. 

I own Carmody Insurance Agency in Anchorage, but entrepreneurship is just part of my hustle. I co-founded Beacon Hill, Safe Families for Children Alaska, and the Heart Gallery of Alaska—programs that are making a real impact for families. Now, I lead the Alaska Impact Alliance, bringing together prevention pros to strengthen families and communities. And through Beautiful Step Consulting, I help individuals and organizations take their big dreams, untangle the mess, and turn them into real, lasting results.
